The Role
Our priority here at Salus Aviation is safety in everything we do. The role will be primarily responsible for the management and oversight of company authorisations and ensuring compliance with Part 145 and Part 148 authorisations across all the CAA, EASA and FAA Salus Certificates. The role will be the CAA Senior Person responsible for Salus Authorisations.
As a member of the Salus Safety and Compliance team, the role will also undertake risk and change management assessments, audits and investigations, with a focus on identifying hazards, risks, root causes and providing recommendations and guidance for action.

About the Job
- Oversee the full lifecycle of personnel authorisations in accordance with Part 145 and Part 148
- Issue written authorisations for maintenance, release to service, and specialist operational activities (e.g., composites, planning, welding, aircraft towing).
- Conduct competency assessment interviews.
- Define, monitor, and update individual scopes of privilege.
- Maintain accurate records of qualifications, training, and authorisation status.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with the CAA regarding Salus authorisations.
- Partner with management to ensure authorisations remain current and compliant.
- Promote a culture where safety concerns can be raised openly.
- Assess risks proactively and take responsibility for safe work practices.
- Follow all regulatory frameworks, company expositions, and SPIs.
- Maintain fitness for work and use appropriate PPE.
About You
- Must be an experienced Licensed Aviation Mechanical Engineer (at least 5 years of NZ experience post qualification) with relevant ratings relative to the Senior Person Authorisations role.
- Must be a fit and proper person (CAA Rule definition) and be suitable to CAA as the CAA Senior Person Authorisations
- Must be able to attain or hold an IA certification.
- A strong understanding of aviation regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
